OPENINGS: Savida (3.18.19)

One of our early favorites for the new go-to dinner spot that has recently opened is Savida in Tribeca, a Mediterranean restarant focused on fresh seafood and a hunt of Israeli cuisin. On our last visit there, we fell for the tapas-style Mezze dips (which vary by the day) accompanied by the fresh challah-like bread (make sure you ask for seconds!). We spoke with Elyssa Colon, GM, to learn more about what you can expect when you check it out…

Tell us about Savida...

We are a Mediterranean cuisine, focused on fish and seafood with an Israeli influence.

What inspired you to open Savida in Tribeca?

We are inspired by "Mediterranean marketplaces" and TriBeCa's history of art, film and beautiful architecture.

What makes Savida unique?

Our guest are seated under garden lights, surrounded by olive trees, paintings from local artists (which are available for purchase), Mezze's (or small tapas) being passed around with fresh made Challah bread. Entrees vary from a "Giant Mediterranean Shrimp",  an amazing buttery pan seared "Dover Sole", or Market Fish which is served whole or "butterfly" filet with both head and tail. We are vegetarian friendly and also have an amazing "Braised Short Ribs" and "Mediterrean Mac & Cheese" with Kefalograviera and seasoned bread crumbs! We are proud of our desserts too, we have "Kanafeh" (Ricotta, halumi, lemon zest, rose water syrup, toasted pistachio and honey anise gelato) and "Sticky Toffee Pudding" (Date sponge cake, toffee sauce, walnuts and tiramisu gelato) just to name a few.

What should locals know about Savida?

We are opened 7 days a week for dinner, Sunday & Monday from 5 pm to 10:30, Tuesday - Saturday from 5 to 11 pm. We do not deliver or have any "delivery services" like Grubhub or Uber Eats because we believe the freshness and quality of our food would be compromised. We recommend making reservations either directly with us or OpenTable. Parties of 7 or more require 48 hour notice and use a prefix menu.

What is coming up for Savida this spring?

We will be announcing our Brunch very soon!
