WEEK AHEAD: Everything Going On Below Canal Street (11.16.17)

Welcome to Week Ahead, your rundown on everything going on below Canal Street this weekend and coming week. We’ve vetted and collected the best events (many are FREE!) for you on the Life Below Canal calendar.

Here are a few of our favorites coming up over the weekend:

-Thursday 11/16 - Performa: The Newcomers (FREE) - You have until Sunday to check out this live, durational architectural performance where a group builds and lives in an evolving structure that moves its way across the 28 Liberty Plaza over the course of 10 days. Each day, the structure changes from temporary home to makeshift bridge in order to reach the next day’s supplies. The artists welcome dialogue with observers as they work, challenging everyone to think beyond traditional, permanent views of architecture.

-Friday 11/17 - Forbes @ 100 (FREE) - Today is your last day to check out this installation. In celebration of Forbes’ 100th anniversary, Forbes Magazine unveiled a special centennial issue, highlighting essays, lessons and ideas for the next 100 years from the world’s 100 Greatest Living Business Minds. Within, each luminary is immortalized by renowned photographer Martin Schoeller, who traveled the globe to 12 countries and 18 cities to capture these striking portraits, which will be on display in a video at Brookfield Place.

-Saturday 11/18 - Saturday Morning Show (FREE) - Everyone's favorite kids show at Hudson Eats is 10AM to 12PM every Saturday.

-Saturday 11/18 - Meet Vicki, a Bomb-Sniffing Dog (FREE/RSVP Required) - The 9/11 Tribute Museum’s "K-9s Help Keep the City Safe" family-friendly program features Vicki, a three-year-old dog who previously worked as a seeing-eye canine but, due to her extraordinary sense of smell and her curiosity about scents, became a bomb-sniffing dog and Martino’s canine partner. Families attending the program will have a

chance to observe Vicki demonstrate her olfactory skills, to learn about her training and to take a photo with her. Please email rsvp@911tributemuseum.org to confirm a seat.

-Saturday 11/18 - The Velveteen Rabbit, Reborn (Tickets Required) - The opening show in the Tribeca Performing Arts Center Family Theater season is The Velveteen Rabbit, Reborn, from Pushcart Players of New Jersey. For ages 3 to 11 years old.
