FOOD + DRINK: Outdoor Dining Below Canal Street - FiDi (7.17.17)

Summer is finally here (took long enough…) and in full swing below Canal Street. And, if there’s anything better than eating and drinking outdoors, we over here at Life Below Canal wouldn’t know. However, it’s not always easy to find outdoor space that serves full, proper meals or just apps and snacks. So, in honor of maximizing our time outside, we are kicking off a neighborhood series sharing our favorite spots to grab a bite and/or a drink outdoors.

Check out our rundown of the best outdoor dining below Canal Street, the Financial District edition.

El Luchador (87 South Street Seaport)

This taqueria features and old Airstream and outdoor seating, as well as some of the best fish tacos (particularly the beer battered fish tacos) in FiDi. A great go-to spot for a quick bite, we recommend it for a casual lunch.

Adrienne’s Pizza Bar (54 Stone St)

Another classic Stone Street option, featuring Sicilian and old fashioned square pizzas. Great for groups and families.

Clinton Hall (90 Washington St & South Street Seaport)

Another venue often dismissed as drinking-only, while it gets crowded during happy hour, during lunch and dinner it’s easy to take advantage of the open space and play a round of Jenga or ping pong while waiting for your food. Whether you order the trendy flamin’ hot donut grilled cheese you’ve seen on Instagram or one of their seasonal burgers, Clinton Hall’s massive selection of burgers features enough options for all dietary needs. We also recommend the Walter White crystal donuts, covered in sugar and comes with injectable flavors. The new Seaport location offers even more plates worth checking out.

Mad Dog & Beans Mexican Cantina (83 Pearl St)

A Stone Street staple, this casual Mexican spot offers Stone Street open outdoor seating for margaritas under the stars. We like to start our meal with the house tequila and end our meal with churros.

Fresh Salt (146 Beekman St)

A solid dog-friendly brunch or lunch option, they have great sandwiches and mac & cheese.
