OPENINGS/CLOSINGS: SLT Tribeca (12.4.17)
We love seeing so many fitness studios opening up below Canal Street. It gives us the chance to try new workouts and mix it up. So, you can imagine our excitement when we heard about the famed SLT coming to Tribeca this winter. We spoke with Amanda Freeman, Founder & CEO, to learn about what locals are in store for...get excited!
Tell us about SLT...
Our mission is to give our clients the full body reSuLTs they have always wanted…FAST! SLT is the perfect combination of cardio, strengthen training and the most challenging elements of Pilates. Each 50-minute session offers clients a high-intensity, but low impact, heart-pumping, muscle quivering workout. Movements are performed slowly to activate the slow-twitch muscle fibers, leading to the long, lean, toned results we are all seeking. Muscles are worked to fatigue, forcing them to grow while increasing your rate of fat and calorie burning (up to 500 per session). We plank, we lunge, we twist, we pulse…we constantly provide you with fun, unique and intense exercises that help to make you stronger and leaner. Set to the beat of killer music, our full body workout is done with the assistance and resistance of weighted springs, thus requiring constant engagement of the core. Taught on the Megaformer™ machine, the SLT workout is a total game-changer.
Why did you pick Tribeca for the upcoming studio?
We have been trying to open a studio in Tribeca for roughly 4 years now. We've gotten close to agreements with several spaces and then they've fallen apart for one reason or another. We've had requests from folks in the neighborhood who find it difficult to make it to one of our other studios, but love the workout. Tribeca is filled with active, fitness-minded men and women looking for an efficient, effective, results-oriented workout.
We love that you're taking local requests! Tell us about the new studio...what will be unique about it?
Our space is on the ground floor and will feature 12 of the newer M3 SLT version of the Megaformer. Unlike most of our locations, there will also be a separated reception area and studio space.
Now you have us excited. So when is the opening date?
We plan to open in February with a full schedule that features long time favorite instructors as well as new up-and-comers.
What are you most looking forward to with the launch of SLT Tribeca?
I'm looking forward to bringing the workout and its amazing results to a new group of clients who weren't willing to travel up to Soho for their workout.
What are your favorite spots in the neighborhood?
I love having brunch at Two Hands, grabbing dessert at Baked and having a cozy dinner at Tiny's. Ever After is an awesome kids store and James Perse is great for basics.
