CULTURE: Father's Day 2017 (6.12.17)
Sunday, June 18th is Father’s Day, and what better way to celebrate your favorite dad than by spending the day downtown? We’ve rounded up some great ideas for dad-worthy gifts and family-friendly or adults only activities to help you plan the perfect Father’s Day. Check out our rundown...
What to do with dad:
Kayaking on the Hudson River
Enjoy FREE kayaking at Pier 26 thanks to Downtown Boathouse, which offers kayaking on Sundays 9 am until 5PM.
Enjoy NYC from a sailboat
Manhattan by Sail offers multiple trips daily leaving from Battery Park’s North Cove Marina, with a slew of onboard activities (including listening to jazz) and plenty of great views
Picnic in Battery Park
Grab some goodies from Le District or Eataly and enjoy a picnic of the many lawns throughout Battery Park. We really like Rockefeller Park for families, with plenty of grass to spread out (don’t forget, The Parkhouse loans games and equipment every day).
Enjoy a beer garden
The newest Clinton Hall at Seaport District NYC offers plenty of burger and beer options, while Pier A has killer views. Both have indoor and outdoor seating.
Hang on a boat
Any excuse to have rose, beer or a speciality cocktail on Grand Banks on Pier 25.
Also, ok fine, it leaves from a few blocks north of Canal, but this brunch boat cruise (with bottomless beer, mimosas, a DJ and more) leaves from Pier 40 and will take you down the Hudson into familiar LBC territory with views of the Freedom Tower, Statue of Liberty and more. (Boarding: 12:00pm $85 and up)
Brandy Library is known as one of the premiere whiskey bars in the city. If you can score an outdoor table (you and) Dad can smoke cigars outside as well. They also have classes you could buy Dad tickets to for a future date.
