Welcome to this week's edition of Week Ahead, your rundown on everything going on below Canal Street this weekend and coming week. We’ve vetted and collected the best events (many are FREE!) for you on the Life Below Canal calendar. Here are a few of our favorite events/activities coming up...

-Thursday 7/12 - Animal Soul (FREE) -  You have till the 15th to check out artist Jason Hackenwerth's large-scale inflated sculptures displayed on the Waterfront Plaza. Check out our interview with him on the site.

-Thursday 7/12 - Saturday 7/14 - Tribeca Drive In presents Westfield Dinner & a Movie (FREE) - Westfield has partnered with Tribeca Film Enterprises to bring a one-of-a-kind outdoor film and dining experience to Westfield World Trade Center on Oculus Plaza. Thursday: When Harry Met Sally, Friday: Moonstruck, Saturday: Lady and the Tramp.

-Friday 7/13 - South Street Seaport Museum Free Fridays (FREE) - The Museum launches Free Fridays today, with free admission to theMuseum every Friday till September 21 from 3-7PM.

-Saturday 7/14 - City of Water Day (FREE) - The City of Water Day brings thousands of people to Seaport District for a day of boat tours, a kayak race, an educational fair, kids' activities and food vendors.

-Saturday 7/14 - Brookfield Place Fitness Series (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) - Join for a free fitness class at the Waterfront Terrace! Advanced registration guarantees a spot. Walk-ins are encouraged and accommodated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

-Sunday 7/15 - Lazy Sundays (FREE) - End your week on a high note with water views, cold drinks and summer beats courtesy of Brookfield Place's DJs. 

-Sunday 7/15 - Fulton Stall Market Outdoor Farmer's Market (FREE) - This year the Sunday market will include guest chefs from Seaport District and Lower Manhattan restaurants offering tastes of their menus and featuring local and seasonal ingredients sourced from the market’s farmers.

-Sunday 7/15 – Big City Fishing (FREE) – Enjoy free family fishing events on Pier 25 every Sunday through 9/30 in Tribeca.

-Monday 7/16 - Hudson Riverkids (FREE) - Check out this weekly kid-focused concert series on Pier 25.

-Monday 7/16 – Big City Fishing (FREE) – Enjoy free family fishing events on Pier 25 every Monday through 8/20 in Tribeca.

-Monday 7/16 - Ping Pong (FREE) - Every Monday through July enjoy outdoor table tennis to suit any style to the Waterfront! 

-Tuesday 7/17 - Trivia Tuesdays (FREE) - Join  for the popular Trivia Tuesdays outdoors on the Waterfront! It's a perfect evening with your friends and colleagues with prizes and more.

-Wednesday 7/18 – Healthy On The Hudson (FREE RSVP NEEDED) – Join every Wednesday for a free fitness class on Pier 25 until 9/12.

-Wednesday 7/18 Pier 17 Cinema Club (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) - The Rooftop at Pier 17 will host a series of movie screenings starting tonight. Enjoy movie-themed snacks, themed giveaways and amazing views. Doors open at 6:30pm so bring your blankets and get there early to grab a seat. Tickets are free but capacity is limited so RSVP now.

-Thursday 7/19 - Film Nights Unwind (FREE) - Unwind with films from Animation Nights New York!

Don’t forget about these ongoing exhibits to check out:

-Black Gotham Experience - Check out the visual storytelling project highlighting the profound connection between the African Diaspora and New York City, as photographic artist Kamau Ware shares his celebration of New York’s Black heritage with Seaport District NYC (192 Front Street). Experience a series of walking tours, graphic novels, film screenings, and workshops in an exhibition of New York’s Black heritage.

-Sunset, Sunrise (Revolution) (FREE) - This temporary public art installation at Pier A Plaza is an interactive, large-scale sculpture designed specifically for the site. It consists of 27 aluminum panels embedded with 9,000 crystal prisms activated by natural light, and is based on a previous, three-panel installation in Austin, Texas, titled Hyperprism. The artwork will be on view through the summer of 2018 in front Pier A Harbor House, located at 22 Battery Place and the Hudson River.
