Don’t forget about these ongoing exhibits to check out:
-ace&jig Exhibit– From now through March 6th, ace&jig founders Cary Vaughan and Jenna Wilson built their slow fashion label to create modern heirlooms that are a sustainable celebration of handcrafted design. Their Community Quilt Project is an extension of their commitment to a no waste process and to support the maker communities keeping handcraft traditions alive. Last year, Cary and Jenna put out a call for creatives across the country to turn bundles of leftover ace&jig textile scraps into quilt squares of their own design. The result was more than 450 one-of-a-kind quilt squares that have been transformed into collaborative handmade quilts.
-2019 Annual Art Exhibit – From now until March 30th, View works by participants of all ages from Battery Park City Authority art programs. All are welcome at the Opening Reception and Art on View.
-The Rink at Brookfield – Opening day this year for the 7,000 square-foot outdoor rink is tonight! Enjoy programming led by former U.S. Olympic skaters and featuring something for all skill levels, including public skating, private lessons, intro to hockey for kids, and more. Now through March.
-Black Gotham Experience - Check out the visual storytelling project highlighting the profound connection between the African Diaspora and New York City, as photographic artist Kamau Ware shares his celebration of New York’s Black heritage with Seaport District NYC (192 Front Street). Experience a series of walking tours, graphic novels, film screenings, and workshops in an exhibition of New York’s Black heritage.
-Sunset, Sunrise (Revolution) (FREE) - This temporary public art installation at Pier A Plaza is an interactive, large-scale sculpture designed specifically for the site. It consists of 27 aluminum panels embedded with 9,000 crystal prisms activated by natural light, and is based on a previous, three-panel installation in Austin, Texas, titled Hyperprism. The artwork will be on view through the summer of 2018 in front Pier A Harbor House, located at 22 Battery Place and the Hudson River.
