CULTURE: The Battery Urban Farm (8.7.17)
Itching to get some more green into your life? Whether you’re looking to help your kids learn more about farming or want to get some first-hard green thumb experience yourself, you don’t need to leave the city limits to get your green on.
The Battery Urban Farm in The Battery is an educational farm where you can learn about sustainable farming and get involved. Created in 2011 by The Battery Conservatory, they’ve had community volunteers help grow vegetables, fruits, flowers, grains, and more. Designed to empower New York City kids and urban communities to make better eating choices and foster environmental support, you can get involved and check it out TODAY. Visitors can check out the Labyrinth Farm every day between 8AM and 6PM.
Want to dig even deeper (see what we did there?)? They offer adult education for teachers, farm education apprentices, community gardener plant giveaway & workshop series, and more. Interested in getting your kids involved? When it comes to youth education, classes can schedule field trips (guided or self guided) or eve join student farmer programs.
