IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! SPRING!!! For us, warmer weather means more time outside exploring the latest outdoor spots below Canal Street, as well as returning to our favorite go-tos. Topping that list is Grand Banks, a floating bar and restaurant docked on Pier 25.

We spoke with owner Alex Pincus to learn what Grand Banks has coming up this season...

Tell us about Grand Banks

Grand Banks is an oyster bar aboard a historic schooner, the Sherman Zwicker. We're now open for our fifth season. My brother Miles and I grew up sailing and repairing old boats in New Orleans, where our dad runs a hotel and we grew up in the hospitality industry, so creating an oyster bar aboard a historic ship oddly makes perfect sense for us.  

What's new for Grand Banks this summer?

This year our executive chef Kerry has revamped and expanded our menu, which we're rolling out on May 2nd, and our new beverage director Zak is introducing several new cocktails. We also have a new house rosé called Everwild and are introducing Pilot No. 1, a new easy-drinking beer that Brooklyn Brewery created exclusively for us. 

What should locals expect at Grand Banks?

On an ideal day sunshine, a waterfront breeze and summery drinks.

What are your favorite drinks and dishes at Grand Banks?

Negroni and a lobster roll.

What are your favorite spots in the neighborhood asides your own?

Frenchette, The Odeon, Greenwich Hotel, Smith & Mills, Walker's, Laughing Man, Two Hands.

What's the best part of running a business below Canal Street?
