Welcome to this week's edition of Week Ahead, your rundown on everything going on below Canal Street this weekend and coming week. We’ve vetted and collected the best events (many are FREE!) for you on the Life Below Canal calendar. Here are a few of our favorite events/activities coming up...

-Thursday 6/21 - Tribeca Art + Culture Night (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) Tribeca Art + Culture Night showcases Tribeca’s fast-growing gallery district with more than 20 fine art and design galleries, university and institutional art galleries, nonprofit art institutions and performance spaces staying open and free to the public well into the evening. During the River To River summer edition of this quarterly stroll, audiences will be able to participate in openings, talks, workshops and performances all over the neighborhood.

-Thursday 6/21 - Sunday 6/24 - Shakespeare Downtown (FREE/TICKETS NEEDED) - Shakespeare Downtown presents "A Midsummer Night's Dream" at Castle Clinton National Monument this summer Thursdays-Sundays from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm from June 14-24.

-Thursday 6/21 -Sunday 6/24 - #PictureOfPride (FREE) - The #PictureofPride celebration takes over the outdoor lounge at Brookfield Place providing the perfect backdrop to snap a photo inside the larger-than-life #PictureofPride frames. For every post on social media that tags @BrookfieldPlaceNY and #PictureofPride, $1 will be donated to the Hetrick-Martin Institute, up to $25,000. 

-Thursday 6/14 - Saturday 6/16 - Tribeca Drive In presents Westfield Dinner & a Movie (FREE) - For the second year in a row, Westfield has partnered with Tribeca Film Enterprises to bring a one-of-a-kind outdoor film and dining experience to Westfield World Trade Center on Oculus Plaza. With weekend themes that celebrate the diversity in American food and its global influence, consumers will be invited to experience live music and trivia as well as a curated menu of food & beverage offerings. The perfect dinner-and-a-movie films pair stories from across America- Los Angeles to Miami to the Big Easy- with regional cuisine to transport you across the country through the movies. Thursday: La La Land, Friday: Chef, Saturday: Princess and the Frog. Ticket required to gain entry. Admittance and seating is first come first served. Capacity is limited so come early to claim your spot and to enjoy the pre-show entertainment.

-Saturday 6/23 - Summer Fitness Series at Brookfield Place (FREE/RSVP NEEDED)- Brookfield Place has teamed up with NYC fitness studios to offer complimentary classes on the Waterfront all summer long! Advance registration guarantees a spot. Walk-ins will be accepted if there is room available.  Classes are on Saturdays from 11am-12pm. All classes are FREE to attend!

-Sunday 6/24 - Lazy Sundays (FREE) - End your week on a high note with water views, cold drinks and summer beats courtesy of Brookfield Place's DJs. 

-Sunday 6/24 - Fulton Stall Market Outdoor Farmer's Market (FREE) - This year the Sunday market will include guest chefs from Seaport District and Lower Manhattan restaurants offering tastes of their menus and featuring local and seasonal ingredients sourced from the market’s farmers.

-Monday 6/25 - Hudson Riverkids (FREE) - Check out this weekly kid-focused concert series on Pier 25.

-Monday 6/25 - Ping Pong (FREE) - Every Monday through July enjoy outdoor table tennis to suit any style to the Waterfront! 

-Tuesday 6/26 - Trivia Tuesdays (FREE) - Join  for the popular Trivia Tuesdays outdoors on the Waterfront! It's a perfect evening with your friends and colleagues with prizes and more.

-Tuesday 6/26 - Night At The Museums (FREE) - Spend a summer evening visiting the 15 excitingly diverse museums and historic sites in Lower Manhattan — including Fraunces Tavern Museum — all for FREE! Participating organizations include the National September 11 Memorial Museum, 9/11 Tribute Center, African Burial Ground National Monument, China Institute, Federal Hall National Memorial, Fraunces Tavern Museum, Lower Manhattan Tours, Museum of Jewish Heritage–A Living Memorial to the Holocaust and South Street Seaport Museum. 

-Wednesday 6/27 - Healthy On The Hudson (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) - Take your workout to tge waterfront with Healthy on the Hudson! This FREE exercise series returns for its 20th Anniversary season, giving you opportunities to get fit in your Park every Wednesday all summer long. Every Wednesday through September 12 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, join them on Pier 25 for a dynamic variety of fitness classes provided in partnership with lululemon! 

-Wednesday 6/27 - Summer Fitness Series at Brookfield Place (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) - Brookfield Place has teamed up with NYC fitness studios to offer complimentary classes on the Waterfront all summer long! Don’t forget about these ongoing exhibits to check out:

-Human Nature - Until June 30th, see six new works by seven contemporary artists inspired by natural landscape and the use of organic forms. Utilizing visual cues from nature, the artworks in this exhibition are distinct interpretations of our environment and the complex relationships to it.  

-Black Gotham Experience - Check out the visual storytelling project highlighting the profound connection between the African Diaspora and New York City, as photographic artist Kamau Ware shares his celebration of New York’s Black heritage with Seaport District NYC (192 Front Street). Experience a series of walking tours, graphic novels, film screenings, and workshops in an exhibition of New York’s Black heritage.

-Sunset, Sunrise (Revolution) (FREE) - This temporary public art installation at Pier A Plaza is an interactive, large-scale sculpture designed specifically for the site. It consists of 27 aluminum panels embedded with 9,000 crystal prisms activated by natural light, and is based on a previous, three-panel installation in Austin, Texas, titled Hyperprism. The artwork will be on view through the summer of 2018 in front Pier A Harbor House, located at 22 Battery Place and the Hudson River.
