FOOD & DRINK: R17 (9.9.19)
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean we’re done with outdoor dining. Even if you’re not checking out a show, Pier 17 should be on your lists for fall dining destinations. We recently checked out R17 for lunch at the Seaport, and were very impressed by what we found. Check out our roundup…
What easily could have been another year-round rooftop was a creative dining destination with a serious focus on cocktails, with solid dishes designed to pair with them!
With a recently launched brunch menu, their constantly changing seasonal menu (RIP till next summer our favorite vegan corn dish) touts some of the local markets’ best ingredients, including creative fish dishes and seasonal salads. However, good news is that their chicken breast sandwich is on the all-day AND brunch menu (phew), so you can indulge any time of day. Another point that makes R17 a solid go-to spot: there’s always a featured vegan dish, so no matter your food restriction, you won’t feel like you’re missing out. Gluten free, etc are all easy handled as well.
If you’re looking to impress out of towners with a spot, what’s great is even if it’s too cold (or rainy), the indoor seating still gives great view of both Brooklyn Bridge and Lower Manhattan Skyline, and the kind staff and stiff drinks (major votes for PAMPLEMOUSSE SPRITZ and KENTUCKY COOLER) makes it a solid go-to before seeing a movie at IPIC, a concert at Pier 17, checking out the boats at the Seaport Museum, or just taking in the neighborhood.
