Welcome to this week's edition of Week Ahead, your rundown on everything going on below Canal Street this weekend and coming week. We’ve vetted and collected the best events (many are FREE!) for you on the Life Below Canal calendar. Here are a few of our favorite events/activities coming up...
-Thursday 2/22 - Best Brews Of NYC (FREE) - Enjoy the best breweries from the 5 NYC boroughs as the Winter Garden transforms into a Winter Biergarten with new brews featured on tap each week! 100% of all beer sales will be donated to New Yorkers for Parks' mission to build, protect, and promote parks and open spaces throughout New York City.
-Friday 2/23 - RUtots (FREE - RSVP Needed) - A 10-session class for Russian-speaking toddlers ages 18-36 months, with fun games, crafts, stories, and dramatic play designed to develop Russian speaking and listening skills while introducing Shabbat and other Jewish traditions.
-Saturday 2/24 - Saturday Morning Show (FREE) - Everyone's favorite free kids show is back at Brookfield Place's Hudson Eats!
-Sunday 2/25 - Playful Purim (Tickets Required) - Get ready for Purim with mask-making, music, a costume parade, hamentaschen, and a performance of an original play based on the PJ Library book Purim Play by Roni Schotter. Recommended for ages 4 to 8.
-Tuesday 2/27 - Pictures Under the Palms (FREE) - Cozy up and unwind with your favorite films under the palm trees inside the Winter Garden! This week is Cool Runnings. Free popcorn and comfy seats provided - arrive early! Seating opens at 5:15PM (with a DJ set) for a 7PM screening and is available on a first come, first served basis.
-Tuesday 2/27 - EscapeMaker's Local Food & Craft Beverage Eve Fundraiser (Tickets Required) - EscapeMaker is hosting a series of local food and craft beverage tasting showcases inside Fulton Stall Market as a fundraiser to benefit the shop and invite the South Street Seaport community to discover the market open daily and its CSA, bringing together local farmers and producers, along with their artisanal sips and bites, to inspire guests to visit these hard-working and impressive artisans in action at their farms and destinations upstate and around the Northeast region.
-Wednesday 2/28 - Purim Family Megillah Reading (FREE RSVP needed) - An interactive retelling of the Book of Esther, complete with graggers (noisemakers) and hamantaschen.

Don’t forget about these ongoing exhibits to check out:
-Black Gotham Experience - Now through March 15th, witness the visual storytelling project highlighting the profound connection between the African Diaspora and New York City, as photographic artist Kamau Ware shares his celebration of New York’s Black heritage with Seaport District NYC (192 Front Street). Experience a series of walking tours, graphic novels, film screenings, and workshops in an exhibition of New York’s Black heritage.
-Sunset, Sunrise (Revolution) (FREE) - This temporary public art installation at Pier A Plaza is an interactive, large-scale sculpture designed specifically for the site. It consists of 27 aluminum panels embedded with 9,000 crystal prisms activated by natural light, and is based on a previous, three-panel installation in Austin, Texas, titled Hyperprism. The artwork will be on view through the summer of 2018 in front Pier A Harbor House, located at 22 Battery Place and the Hudson River.
