-Thursday 5/24, Friday 2/25 & Saturday 2/26 - SEA (Singular Extreme Actions) - The members of Elizabeth Streb’s company, STREB EXTREME ACTION, combine virtuosity and technical skill with openhearted popular appeal. Founded in New York City in 1985 by choreographer Elizabeth Streb, the company has traveled, artistically as well as geographically, from the heights of the experimental dance world to the cutting-edge of popular entertainment.
-Saturday 5/26 - SEA Kids Action Class (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) - STREB KID ACTION classes reflect the high energy, fast-paced movement that kids experience all around them every day. Young action engineers will be intrigued by the vigorous exploration of impact, velocity and the defiance of gravity through a combination of thrilling stunts and intricate obstacle courses all led by STREB's ACTION HEROES!
-Sunday 5/27 - Whole Fish Cookout - Join Island Oyster & Brooklyn Brewery on Governers Island for a whole-fish cookout.
-Sunday 5/27 - Fulton Stall Market Outdoor Farmer's Market (FREE) - This year the Sunday market will include guest chefs from Seaport District and Lower Manhattan restaurants offering tastes of their menus and featuring local and seasonal ingredients sourced from the market’s farmers.
-Wednesday 5/30 - Healthy On The Hudson (FREE/RSVP NEEDED) - Take your workout to tge waterfront with Healthy on the Hudson! This FREE exercise series returns for its 20th Anniversary season, giving you opportunities to get fit in your Park every Wednesday all summer long. Every Wednesday through September 12 from 6:30 – 7:30 PM, join them on Pier 25 for a dynamic variety of fitness classes provided in partnership with lululemon!
Don’t forget about these ongoing exhibits to check out:
-Human Nature - Until June 30th, see six new works by seven contemporary artists inspired by natural landscape and the use of organic forms. Utilizing visual cues from nature, the artworks in this exhibition are distinct interpretations of our environment and the complex relationships to it.
-Black Gotham Experience - Check out the visual storytelling project highlighting the profound connection between the African Diaspora and New York City, as photographic artist Kamau Ware shares his celebration of New York’s Black heritage with Seaport District NYC (192 Front Street). Experience a series of walking tours, graphic novels, film screenings, and workshops in an exhibition of New York’s Black heritage.
-Sunset, Sunrise (Revolution) (FREE) - This temporary public art installation at Pier A Plaza is an interactive, large-scale sculpture designed specifically for the site. It consists of 27 aluminum panels embedded with 9,000 crystal prisms activated by natural light, and is based on a previous, three-panel installation in Austin, Texas, titled Hyperprism. The artwork will be on view through the summer of 2018 in front Pier A Harbor House, located at 22 Battery Place and the Hudson River.
