Music fans (and, frankly, fans of the arts) you are in for a treat! The Bach Store, a one-month non-profit pop-up at 45 Pine Street is open and dedicated to all things J.S. Bach. Featuring performances everyday 12-5:30PM by Evan Shinners and guest artists 6:15PM ever day in July, we spoke with Maestro of The Bach Store Evan Shinners to find out more…
Tell us about The Bach Store...
The Bach Store is a pop-up shop dedicated to Bach's music and giving his music to the public freely. Bach is a universal principle among musicians, and the 50-odd guest artists who will play this month have all been deeply moved by his music. We are a non-profit who relies on people's donations to continue to do this throughout the city.
What inspired you to open The Bach Store downtown?
We are too focused on life, we have no regard for what makes us live. music is nourishment for humanity. A dose of Bach can cure disease and heal broken memories. music has a healing power and those who doubt this need only spend 15 minutes in The Bach Store. I challenge the busy person to walk away from the Bach Store unrenewed, uncalmed, not-at-peace.
What can locals expect when they visit The Bach Store?
Learning about Bach's music, hearing world-class instrumentalists perform, T-Shirts, Totes, Books and Lighters for sale.
How long will The Bach Store be open for? What are the hours?
Every day in July from noon to 7pm.
What's coming up for The Bach Store?
Every day a different guest artist at 6:15, every day a different recital of his keyboard music from noon to 5:30, every day a different surprise, a different musical lesson, a different piece of music you will end up loving.
What is your favorite part of creating The Bach Store?
The people who keep coming back, moved. Life is about finding your gift, and giving that gift away - The Bach Store embodies this perfectly.
