HEALTH & WELLNESS - Battery Park Pediatrics (3.26.18)
As life below Canal Street becomes increasingly filled with families of all ages, we get a lot of questions about our go-tos for not only the fun (e.g. restaurants & bars) but also the practical (e.g. health & wellness). When it comes to a pediatrics practice, our favorite is Battery Park Pediatrics, so we spoke with Dr. Melissa Morrissey, one of the four doctors at the practice, to share more....
Tell us about Battery Park Pediatrics...
Battery Park Pediatrics is a welcoming place where children can receive comprehensive medical care. Parents enjoy our convenient location and open schedule, accomodating urgent and same day appointments when they most need us.
BPP quickly became popular soon after opening in 2011 . Our office attracts not only local residents but also families from all NYC boroughs and New Jersey. Our ideal location is convenient to the west side highway, express and local subways, walking distance from anywhere in Battery Park and Tribeca, including the Oculus and World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
How has the neighborhood's evolution impacted the practice?
Being part of the close knit BPP community has inspired us. We embrace our role as a community partner and are actively looking for ways to support local businesses and services. We want to distinguish ourselves from the medical conglomerates as an independent and more personal alternative.
What should locals know about BPP?
At Battery Park Pediatrics you can expect prompt, personal, comprehensive care and access to a wide range of our recommemded local and hospital based subspecialty providers.
What's your favorite part of being located below Canal Street?
We enjoy most the beauty and relative tranquility of Battery Park City. We have a front row view of Rockefeller Park and the Hudson River. When you come to visit us, take a little time to walk along the esplanade, and let the kids run and play a bit. We encourage a healthy, active lifestyle.
What's coming up for the practice this year?
In 2018, we are expanding our hours. We are open 7 days a week and are open later to accomodate the busy schedule of working parents and school age children. We are planning a community based initiative to educate new and expectant parents about infant behavior and temperament to guide their parenting style. We will maintain our high quality standards, seek to improve our efficiency and increase our participation within the community.
