OPENINGS/CLOSINGS: L'angolo (1.3.18)
New year. New dining options.
We always get excited when new restaurants open downtown, and L’angolo (housed in the former Roc space) is no exception. With a soft spot for Italian food and a the need to check out every pasta below Canal Street, we were very excited to talk to Tony Kavaja, co-owner and manager at L’angolo (which means “the corner” in Italian), to learn about the restaurant and hear what’s in store for the team this year...
Tell us about L’angolo…
L’angolo opened in May of 2017. We are a family owned and operated Italian restaurant. I was raised in Torino and have been in America for over 10 years now.
What makes L’angolo different?
We specialize in fresh homemade pastas, fresh seafood and a large selection of wines that includes all regions of Italy. Don’t worry; it also does justice to the rest of the world’s wines!
Why did you choose to open L’angolo in Tribeca?
We choose Tribeca because is very residential and we liked to idea getting to know all our customers and become a part of the Tribeca family! At L’angolo we treat everyone as part of our family. We have a very attentive and friendly staff that is ready to go the extra mile to satisfy our customers.
What’s coming up for L’angolo in 2018?
We just launched a two-course business lunch for $15.95, and very soon we’ll be starting a weekday happy hour.
What are your favorite places in the neighborhood (asides L'angolo, of course!)?
I’m new to the neighborhood and it has been really fun meeting our new neighbors and making new friends in our new neighborhood. I'm looking forward to trying everything, and would love recommendations when locals visit us!
