OPENINGS: Glam+Go Tribeca (7.9.18)
For those looking to combat the summer hair scaries (or our permanent state of hair chaos when the humidity hits), Glam+Go could not be opening at a better time. When we heard their first storefront & flagship shop was opening Wednesday (July 11th) in Tribeca, we had to know more. Check out our interview with Erika Wasser, Founder/CEO, to learn about Glam+Go, including a massive perk for local residents...
Tell us about Glam+Go...
Glam+Go was started with a vision of bringing blowouts to busy women. We focus on quality and speed - plus our memberships make every day great hair days affordable! We were grown out of industry green rooms where 15-minutes to camera ready is the norm and I thought "that's what every woman needs. A green room, or pit stop, where she can pop in, get glam, and go".
What inspired you to open in Tribeca?
I was a TriBeCa resident for years on Lispenard so I knew the area well, and knew what we were lacking! When the new SLT opened, and we saw the space at 93 Worth Street (our new home!) we knew this would be the perfect spot for our first flagship.
What excites you about the Tribeca neighborhood?
Aside from JayZ and De Niro? TriBeCa is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods. The architecture, the nightlife, the day life. You can have it all in TriBeCa. You can be family oriented, you can dance all night at Macao Trading Company - and everything in between. Now, you can even get NYC's "Best Blowout".
What's unique about Glam+Go that locals should know about?
This is our first storefront and will serve our flagship. We're known for our 15-minute express blowouts (yes, they're real and they're spectacular) and really top notch classic Wash+Blows (we called them Signature Blowouts). This location will be full service though! We'll be introducing treatments like olaplex, and hair cuts and mens services... Our TriBeCa store will function as our test kitchen, so if we're ever to introduce a new service or offering - you'll see it here first. Because we get to start from scratch here, we're putting in everything we would want from a space thats for busy women, by busy women; a printer/scanner/wifi for guest use, rentable lockers for when you're going from work to gym to a date and don't want to schlep your entire apartment, use our "Bag Valet". We're working with premium wine and champagne distributors for a branded champagne bar thats in the works - as why serve it if we wouldn't want to drink it. We're hoping to become not only a salon, but a community space.
What's new for Glam+Go in 2018?
Our first storefront is a pretty serious undertaking for us so we're spending some time here. We may also be opening our fourth city, which would be DC in the Fall.
What are your favorite local spots?
I'm a big backgammon fan, so the lobby bar game tables at the Roxy is a personal fave. Always love Macao Trading, Petrarca has great pasta... and I can't forget Tiny's. I had lunch next to Ian McKellan there once & was loudly convinced he was who played Dumbledore (he didn't) and apparently in my attempt to cooly fan girl, was sooo cool - he leaned over and said "I'm honored you like my work, but have you ever seen Lord of the Rings".
What are the opening details?
We are opening this month with an awesome opening month Founding Membership special. You'll be able to join Glam+Go for unlimited blowouts (and express blowouts!) at $175/mo. (reg. $225). The only catch is the membership will be a "TriBeCa only". You'll still be able to visit other Glam locations across the country with preferred member pricing :) You can sign up as of June 28th here: www.glamandgo.com/tribeca
