OPENINGS: Lobster GoGo (11.26.18)

When the weather gets cold and it looks like its 3AM outside at 5PM, sometimes you just want to treat yourself. Now open at the Seaport, Lobster GoGo is here for all your lobster (and shellfish & seafood) needs.

We spoke with Douglas Alexander, CEO, to learn more…

Tell us about Lobster GoGo....

Lobster GoGo is an upscale, next generation quick service restaurant shining the culinary spotlight on the beloved lobster roll and located in the heart of the Seaport District. Our freshly made lobster and seafood rolls and salads are sourced from the icy waters of the North Atlantic, built with unique culinary flavor profiles, and created with locally grown sustainable ingredients.

What makes Lobster GoGo so unique?

Lobster GoGo’s menu is created by Culinary Director Gavin Citron, who has extensive experience in some of the city’s best restaurants. The to-go dishes are prepared from scratch daily, with all ingredients of the highest quality and sourced from reputable purveyors located in the North Atlantic region.

With a name like Lobster GoGo, our main draw is, of course, the traditional lobster roll. But the menu also features other seafood variations including shrimp, crab, tuna, and salmon. Customers can also choose to order their seafood on a top split butter-griddled bun or on a bed of field greens. We are committed to providing guests with an exceptional culinary experience that elevates the usual familiarity of these mainstay dishes and as such, the rolls are known as “The Intelligent Indulgence” for all who walk through our doors.

What inspired you to open at the Seaport?

What’s the Seaport District without an excellent lobster roll? No, but really, we chose this vibrant waterfront neighborhood revitalized by The Howard Hughes Corporation because it is truly an exciting community in Manhattan. From the bustling public spaces, a buzzing restaurant scene, entertainment and offices, we felt there was a void for the type of food we are offering both local and visiting customers.

What can locals expect when they visit Lobster GoGo?

We hope locals walking in will enjoy our happy, friendly and welcoming space that also offers outstanding food and service. Upon entering Lobster GoGo, there are energetic shades of orange and pops of bright white, with a 14-foot lobster design on the ceiling. We set out to create a fun and inviting dining experience for our customers, and we want them to come in and smile, eat great food and return often!

What's coming up for Lobster GoGo this season?

From a food standpoint, we will be offering seasonal specials including soups and seafood stews during these colder months. As for the business, we really want to focus this fall on establishing ourselves within the Seaport District community. We hope to be a mainstay in the neighborhood, where people pop in for one of our quick lunch specials, a weekend snack, or an easy and healthy dinner to go. Our ultimate goal is to support our community on various levels.

What are your favorite things on the menu?

My go-to item that I could eat every day and always recommend to customers would be the GoGo Combo Roll, a delicious combination of Lobster GoGo’s best of the best seafood offerings (lobster, shrimp and crab), tossed together for a tasty seafood combo.

What are your hours?

We are open during the fall and winter seasons Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on weekends from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will be expanding our hours once the weather warms up in the spring and summer.
