WEEK AHEAD: Everything Going On Below Canal Street (10.26.17)

Welcome to Week Ahead, your rundown on everything going on below Canal Street this weekend and coming week. We’ve vetted and collected the best events (many are FREE!) for you on the Life Below Canal calendar.

Here are a few of our favorites coming up over the weekend:

-Thursday 10/26 - Designing the Workplace of the Future: Imagining an Inclusive and Equitable Workplace (RSVP Required) - As organizations work to increase inclusivity in the workforce, a question begs to be asked: Do more diverse workspaces benefit from designs with a focus on equity? Claire Weisz founding partner at WXY architecture + urban design, will lead a panel discussion at LMHQ that makes the case for office design to modernize alongside office culture—and what that looks like.

-Friday 10/27 -  Volez, Vogyez, Voyagez - Louis Vuitton (FREE but reservations required) - Opening TODAY, yhe showcase, which details the French brand’s roots via trunks, steamer bags and other historic paraphernalia, lands at the former American Stock Exchange building for a nine-week run.

-Friday 10/27 - Night of 1,000 Jack O’Lanterns (TICKETS REQUIRED) - Night until the 29th, light up New York Harbor with more than 1,000 illuminated pumpkins carved by local artists (some are 100 pounds!). Hurry this event always sells out!

-Saturday 10/28 - 3rd Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest (FREE) - Sponsored by The Friends of Washington Market Park, this is a free community event with trophies awarded in multiple categories: scariest, funniest and most creative to name a few. Bring your own pumpkin to enter, or just stop by with your family to enjoy the festive display!

-Tuesday 10/31 - 1st Annual Tuck Halloween Costume Party (TICKETS REQUIRED) - Featuring the sounds of DJ Marvelous, paired with spooky hand-crafted cocktails created by resident Master Barman Adam Seger and haunting bites curated by Chef Greg.

Don’t forget about these ongoing exhibits:

-Volez, Vogyez, Voyagez - Louis Vuitton (FREE but reservations required) - There are both general and guided tours of this spectacular exhibit from October 27th through January 7th.
